Wapsie Staff Alumni are invited to join a traditional camp gathering Labor Day Weekend, that will include a canoe trip down the Wapsipinicon River from Paris bridge to Pinicon Ridge park, followed by a cookout and social time with alumni around the fire and an opportunity to camp out the remainder of the Labor Day weekend. Alumni and their family are welcome. A group of campsites have been reserved and come as a package deal. We will be sharing group sites and tents (Campers are allowed). Water and electrical hookups are not available. People can sign up for the day or camping through the weekend.

The registration package includes Saturday night dinner, smores and social/campfire time. People are welcome to stay and camp until Monday morning. Additional meals are on your own.

Meet at Pinicon Ridge Park Watercraft Concessions parking lot at 12:15 PM Saturday, Aug 30 to organize and Canoers should be ready to board and launch canoes at Paris bridge at 1:00 Saturday to start canoe trip.

Campers can arrive any time after 3:00 pm on Friday Aug 29^th. Guests coming for dinner and the social evening can arrive after 3:30 pm on Saturday for social time and dinner around 5:00. Smores and campfire songs to follow.

Cancellations: Cancellations must be made in writing or by email to [email protected] . Cancellations less than 10 days prior to the program start date forfeit the per person registration fees. Remaining fees will be refunded. No Shows will not receive a refund.

Wapsie Adult Reading Retreat

Enjoy a relaxing reading weekend at YMCA Camp Wapsie. Join us Friday October 17 at 6pm – Sunday October 19 at noon (meals included). This retreat is for anyone 18+ and has the focus on taking time for yourself or with friends, to just sit back and enjoy a good book.  Some of you may enjoy a full weekend of reading. We will also be offering some of our traditional camp activities: archery, crafts, slingshots, and rock climbing. We have a special opportunity this weekend for a painting class. We recommend bringing a book for the book swap; one you love or one someone else might enjoy more. Find a new great read or enjoy an old classic.

Bring your friends! Each person will register individually then request to bunk with your friends as a group, or a duo for our relaxing reading weekend. The cost is $125 per person.

Books, e-readers, and audio books (with headphones) are allowed. Camp also has a library, consisting of mostly young adult and some classics for adult reads.
