Meet the Camp Wapsie Staff
Camp Director - Paul Denowski
Paul joined the Wapsie staff in 2003 coming from YMCA Camp Edwards. Having studied natural resources, camp management and environmental education at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Paul enjoys sharing his passion for the outdoors with the kids at camp through nature programming, adventure trips and outdoor cooking whenever he gets the chance. “Wapsie is a great camp where I enjoy helping and watching campers learn and grow.”
Office Manager - Angela Jackson
Angela first joined the Wapsie staff six years ago as the Camp Register, and has now returned for a full time role! Angela is from Coggon, IA and has three children that attend Camp Wapsie. She has been married for 21 years. She loves being at camp and helping families learn about Camp Wapsie and all the experiences it has to offer.
Food Service Manager -
William joined the Wapsie staff team in 2015 as our Food Service Manager and Head Cook. He oversees the purchasing, menu planning, preparation and sanitation for groups of 10 to 300 people totaling over 40,000 plates throughout the year. He has an AAS in Restaurant Management from the Kirkwood Hospitality Program, which he has used to positively impact the quality and quantity of our menu items. He has five children with his wife who has been with him for 20 years. He loves introducing teens and children to new flavors and ingredients. He consistently pursues healthy, appetizing and attractive meals.
Property Caretaker -
Sam is Wapsie’s full-time, onsite Caretaker. He is responsible for the upkeep of the camp facilities and supervises the maintenance crew. Sam grew up in Maryland where he studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County before joining AmeriCorps. He has also served as our Food Services Director this past summer as well as an AmeriCorps Volunteer in the Spring of 2016. He’s already proven to be a great addition to the team and we’re very thankful to have his enthusiasm and dedication for problem solving and hard work.
