Choose Wapsie for your next Retreat. With our beautiful, peaceful, natural setting, the in and outdoor meeting areas and recreational opportunities. Wapsie is a popular choice for retreats. You can develop your own program and just use our facilities or we can help you develop a program to fit your needs while taking advantage of all that Wapsie has to offer. The opportunities are endless.
Team Building Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility are the cornerstones of the YMCA Camp Wapsie experience. Build success from within through a variety of problem-solving activities and strengthen communication, confidence, trust, and leadership.
YMCA Camp Wapsie uses indoor and outdoor initiative activities, including the climbing tower and our initiatives course. Initiative activities range from ground level up to 10 feet in the air. High elements are based up to 30 feet off the ground (climbing/rappelling tower, zip line). Participants work in groups of 10-12 for activities. This has become a popular part of many high school and college retreats!

Outdoor Environmental Education There is no place better to learn about the environment than in the out-of-doors. After all, it is truly the first classroom. Camp Wapsie's Outdoor Environmental Education Program combines academics with practical "hands-on" experiences, which are designed to reinforce and supplement classroom learning. Bring your own activities or choose from some of the many camp has available. We are happy to assist in planning your school visit.
Church Retreats Come enjoy the natural beauty that encompasses camp. 172 acres of lowland forest and wetlands provides a home for many different varieties of wildlife from songbirds to wading birds and waterfowl. Find a quiet place to reflect on life's blessings or take a walk and see how many trees you can identify. Take a canoe ride and enjoy the sun on your back and the breeze in your face.
Business Retreats Bring your staff to YMCA Camp Wapsie and get away from telephone and everyday distractions! Camp Wapsie is a great place to plan and prepare business goals, objectives, and budgets; stimulate creativity; and dream about where you want your business or organization to go in the future! Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and natural beauty of Camp Wapsie for your next retreat. We can provide home cooking just like you remember without having to do the dishes.
College Getaways Have a pizza party in the lodge or chapel. Stay up late; celebrate all night long in the privacy of a heated cabin. The winter months can provide a great escape from school and work. Bring a sled, some marshmallows and some hot cocoa and you've got a sledding party!

Program Staffing Camp staff are willing to lead activities for your group. There is a nominal fee if camp staff instruct classes. If you would like to lead any of these activities, camp has the materials and can send you lessons in order to run most of them yourself. We can also share several community resources that sometimes offer their programs.
Food Service The most important three features we use to measure the success of our food service are Quality, Quantity, and Variety. Our camp cook has over 25 years of experience in providing good old-fashioned home cooking for as many as 250 people or as few as 25 people. Our food is served family style. You'll have plenty to eat and we'll do the dishes. Your assistance is required in setting and cleaning the tables (we'll walk you through the process).
Making a Reservation Contact the camp office at 319-435-2577 with your reservation inquiry. The Assistant Camp Director will work with you in making your reservation and setting up your visit. A non-refundable deposit is required to begin processing a contract. Visiting groups are required to provide a copy of their itinerary and certificate of insurance.
