EMPLOYMENT/VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Camp Wapsie has a small core year-round staff who run camp and maintain the facilities. However, we rely on volunteers in many aspects of our program. Numerous groups and individuals assist with special projects to help meet service project hours for church, school, and the like. All such assistance helps make camp stronger for youth and allows valuable dollars to be reinvested into camp. Here are some volunteer opportunities at camp:

            Wood splitting
            Painting

            Landscaping
            Office Filing
            Small Building Projects

            Fund-raising for scholarships
               or special projects

           Assisting with camp programs

Spring Volunteer Day

Every spring we host a volunteer day to help camp get ready for the busy summer season. We work on many of the projects above. Check the current events page for information on this year's event.

Employment opportunities

The following are jobs that come open on a fairly regular basis. If you are interested in any of these positions, please contact camp for more information.

Summer Positions available:

Resident Camp Counselor:
Supervise a group of 12 campers with a co-counselor, and lead a program area and activities.

Food Services Director:
Assist our head cook and experience preparing and serving meals, supervise staff and assist with camp programming.

Equestrian Director: 
Responsible for all aspects of horse program: rides, lessons, feeding and care of horses.

Health Services Director:
Work with nurse to distribute medications, provide first-aid and look out for the well-being of campers.

Ranger Camp Director:
Lead our camp outdoor skills program.

Aquatics Director:
Supervise all aspects of our pool and aquatics program, such as staffing schedules, swim lessons etc.

Trip Leaders: Coordinate and lead our off-site adventure trips throughout the Midwest.

Camper Services Director:
Manage our camp store, help supervise a cabin, and assist with other daily camp responsibilities.

Day Camp Director and Assistant Director:
Develop, schedule, and coordinate activities for day campers.
