YMCA --> YMCA CAMP WAPSIE
MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
YMCA Camp Wapsie has a long tradition of reaching out to children and families, offering them incredible camp experiences. The staff make the camp experience great by adhering to the philosophy of putting campers first. The camp experience is a wonderful opportunity to grow in spirit, mind, and body. Campers can try new things that are outside of their daily routine. These exciting activities are led and supervised by trained staff who put campers’ safety and well-being first. We follow the high standards of the American Camp Association for programming, staffing, facilities, and safety.
Wapsie summer camp programs are open to YMCA members and nonmembers alike. So that money isn't an issue that keeps youth away from camp, campers may apply for "camperships" (scholarship assistance) or participate in the Earn Your Way to Camp candy sale. We offer several programs to choose from in our day and resident camps. Younger campers can visit our day camp or teepee village. Older campers may participate in our Ranger Camp, focusing on more outdoor skills; our Adventure trips, for out-of-camp trip adventures; or our leadership program, where our trained staff help youth to become strong leaders. At the core of our program is our resident camp, Cabin camper, program.
When we teach youth archery, they aren’t just learning how to use a bow and arrow. They are learning skills and character traits that will help them throughout their life, such as patience, persistence, self-confidence, caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The experience of YMCA Camp Wapsie has countless opportunities for self-growth, personal enrichment, and friendship. Parents overwhelmingly comment on how their children have grown and matured at camp. The campers say it is FUN!
We hope your child will spend part of their summer growing with us and celebrating the traditions of YMCA Camp Wapsie!
In the spirit of camping,
 Paul Denowski
