  Adventure Trips AdventureTrips are for youth entering 8th - 12th grades. YMCA Camp Wapsie offers some amazing out-of-camp adventure trips! After an orientation at camp, campers load up their gear and head to their destination! Participants should be prepared for active adventures in wilderness terrain, related to the trip. Camp Wapsie staff is trained in Wilderness First Aid and work with guides trained in the skills of each wilderness trip. Check out the 2008 Camp Wapsie Summer Brochure for more information. Adventure Trips Descriptions Session # E-2 June 15 – 21 Climb at Devil’s Lake State Park in Wisconsin, one of the premier natural outdoor climbing areas in the Midwest! YMCA Camp Staff will lead this exciting and safe weeklong experience climbing, hiking, and camping at Devil’s Lake State Park. When they’re not exploring the park, they may even have a chance to cool off in Devil’s Lake! $405 for nonmembers Session # E-4 June 29-July 5 CANOE, CLIMB, CAVE, IOWA ADVENTURE TOUR for youth entering 7th –11th grades Visit some of Iowa’s hidden treasures with opportunities for rock climbing, canoeing, caving and hiking. This trip tours Eastern Iowa engaging in a variety of adventures. Campers should bring old clothes, as they’ll get dirty exploring! We’ll paddle one of Iowa’s scenic river-ways and climb at a local park. We may even take along a GPS and try to find some of Iowa’s hundreds of hidden geo-caches. This trip is full of awesome adventures! $325 for YMCA members $390 for nonmembers Session # E-5 July 6-12 T.E.A.M. (Together Everyone Achieves More) for youth entering 8th –12th grades This week combines adventure with leadership development training. Through our challenge activities, opportunities for improved leadership skills including communication, support, and decision-making are given. These activities, combined with regular camp programs and an overnight rock-climbing trip to Backbone State Park, will give campers the opportunity to have fun while learning to achieve more through teamwork. $325 for YMCA members $390 for nonmembers Session # E-7 July 20-26 Skater's Delight for youth entering 8th –12th grades We can’t bring the skate park to campers so we are taking campers to the parks! After years of checking out parks in Wisconsin and Illinois, we found the best spots in the area and put together a great trip of skating and camping. Whether you’re a boarder or a blader, this trip rocks! It is a perfect chance for skaters to learn and practice new techniques at cool parks. $350 for YMCA members $415 for nonmembers Session # E-9 August 3-9 Iowa Parks Tour for youth entering 7th –11th grades Iowa has great parks and natural areas with opportunities for rock climbing, canoeing, camping and hiking. We will explore a few of them so campers can get a taste of an adventure trip with a little more time at Wapsie. $325 for YMCA members $390 for nonmembers |
