STRONG KIDS CAMPAIGN: Underway now

YMCA Family The YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area does not turn anyone away based on inability to pay. Our annual Strong Kids Campaign is our major fundraiser to help provide scholarships to people who would otherwise be unable to afford membership and program fees. During our annual fundraising campaign, which is underway now, volunteers are asked to solicit funds from the community to further advance the YMCA Mission to serve all people. In addition to financial support, volunteers are always needed to help lead this important campaign.

In 2007, the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area approved nearly $1 million in scholarship assistance to 5,255 people; 2,499 were children. The need for financial assistance continues to grow. That's why the Strong Kids Campaign is so important. Your donation can help families experience the positive effects of YMCA programs and activities. Our success will always be measured by the lives we touch.

Membership and program fees at the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area do not cover all the costs to support these vital community programs. To ensure that no one is denied a chance to participate because of inability to pay, we truly need your help. Through the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, your contribution helps the YMCA to provide program support and financial assistance to families who need it in our community. Only by working together can we give more kids the opportunity to grow strong in spirit, mind and body.

Provides a youth membership for a child in our community, helping to build self-confidence and self-esteem through YMCA programs and activities.

YOUR GIFT OF $30/MONTH

More than covers the fee for one child to attend a week at YMCA Camp Wapsie, with such life-enriching activities as canoeing and horseback riding.

YOUR GIFT OF $50/MONTH

Helps offset the cost of YMCA Before and After School Child Care for a family.

YOUR GIFT OF $78/MONTH

Buys a YMCA Family Membership, thus strengthening the family unit through quality time spent together in a positive environment.

YMCA Family At the YMCA, one of our most important goals has always been to enrich the lives of children in our community. But when some are left out, it leaves us all a bit poorer. That's because giving kids a safe and nurturing place to go benefits everyone. By introducing them to experiences that will help them grow into responsible, successful adults, we make the community we love a better place to live. One child at a time. One family at a time. YMCA programs teach young people important values such as caring, honesty, responsibility and respect. Through a variety of fun and rewarding activities, they also develop valuable skills while they gain confidence and self-esteem. You simply can't put a price on strengthening and enriching the character of a child.
