This central branch of the YMCA opened in August 2002 and is named after Helen G. Nassif, an extraordinary philanthropist with deep roots in Cedar Rapids. This two-story, 65,000-square foot facility is handicapped accessible. It features a six-lane, 25-yard pool (current pool schedule) and 20-person capacity whirlpool. The gymnasium has three basketball courts (current gym schedule). Above the gym is an indoor track (12 laps equals 1 mile). The Health and Wellness Center has treadmills, ellipticals, NuStep Steppers, Airdyne bikes, Precor bikes, and Stairmaster steppers. These are all connected to a cardio-theater system so you can enjoy your favorite TV shows while working out!  Check out our most recent health and wellness class schedule.  Most of our Health and Wellness Classes are FREE to members.  For a complete list of all programs and classes, check out our most recent Program Guide.  It will have all the information you need to join in!

The Aerobics Studio is off of the Fitness Center. This 2,200-square-foot room has a wood-over-air floor and overlooks the pool.

The Helen G. Nassif YMCA also features five racquetball/handball courts, and locker rooms for men, women, boys, and girls, as well as a Family Changing Room. A sauna and steam room are in each of the men's and women's locker rooms. A large multipurpose room is home to MIDWAY, an activity room for teens. This room can be divided into two rooms and is available for outside rentals.

While working out, patrons may leave their children at the YMCA Babysitting Service on the first floor of the Helen G. Nassif YMCA. Parking, both on- and off-street, is available. The building is located on the city's trail system. The Metro Office of the YMCA of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Area is housed on the second floor of the Helen G. Nassif YMCA.
