The YMCA provides 100% scholarship assistance to children in our community that are in the Foster Care System.
Of the scholarship receipients who did tell us of their ethnicity, 29% indicated their ethnicity as non-white. Information on the Priority One web site, which identifies Woods & Poole Economics, Inc. as its source, estimates the Linn County non-white population to be 7% in 2005.
Referrals for over 75% of the scholarships approved in 2006 came from Education, Employers, Health Care, or Non-Profit Human Serice Agencies/Programs.
The YMCA is extremely proud of the financial assistance we are able to provide to the community through the generous donations of our contributors and the continued support of the United Way of East Central Iowa.
